How Do I Resend the Confirmation Email?

If you have the sign-up confirmation feature enabled, subscribers that subscribed to your newsletters but haven’t confirmed their subscription yet will be marked as “Unconfirmed” on your Subscribers page.

Unconfirmed subscribers won’t receive any newsletter from you until they confirm their subscription.

If you want to resend the confirmation email to them, just follow these steps:

  1. Go to MailPoet > Subscribers page and find the subscriber (you can filter for “Unconfirmed” subscribers at the top of the list).
  2. Hover over the subscriber and click “Resend confirmation email.”

Subscriber-driven resends

If a subscriber with an “Unconfirmed” or “Unsubscribed” status fills out your signup form again, they will receive a new confirmation email.

Subscribers who are already in the “Subscribed” status will not receive a confirmation email when they submit a form again. The form will still succeed, and the subscriber will be added to any new lists or tags assigned to the form. Their existing profile data, such as first name and last name, will not be overwritten. For more details, see What Happens When an Existing Subscriber Submits a Signup Form Again.

Public form confirmation emails are limited to three total sends per subscriber. After that limit is reached, the form will show: “We’ve already sent you a confirmation email. Please check your inbox or spam folder.”

Administrators can still resend confirmation emails individually from MailPoet > Subscribers. If the subscriber needs to restart the public signup process after reaching the limit, delete the subscriber permanently, or let the automatic unconfirmed subscriber cleanup remove them if it is enabled and they are eligible.

Resending Confirmation Emails in Bulk

Starting with MailPoet 5.25.0, administrators can resend confirmation emails to multiple unconfirmed subscribers at once. This feature is available when sign-up confirmation is enabled.

How to use it

  1. Go to MailPoet > Subscribers.
  2. Open the Unconfirmed subscribers view by clicking the “Unconfirmed” tab at the top of the list.
  3. Select the subscribers you want to contact, or select all subscribers across pages.
  4. Click Resend confirmation emails from the bulk actions.
  5. In the confirmation dialog, confirm that these subscribers asked to join your list, then click Resend emails.

MailPoet queues the selected subscribers and processes the resend in the background. A success message confirms how many subscribers were queued and how many were skipped.

Built-in safeguards

To protect your sending reputation and prevent spam complaints, MailPoet applies several safeguards during bulk resend:

  • Batch limit: Up to 20 subscribers are queued per bulk action. If more than 20 are eligible, the rest are skipped and you can repeat the action.
  • Per-subscriber cap: Each subscriber can receive a maximum of 3 confirmation emails total. Subscribers who have already reached this limit are skipped.
  • Recency throttle: Subscribers who received a confirmation email within the last 7 days are skipped.
  • Age limit: Subscribers who were added more than 90 days ago are skipped, as older unconfirmed subscribers carry a higher risk of spam complaints.
  • Unconfirmed only: The bulk action is only available from the Unconfirmed subscribers view. It does not appear on other status tabs.
  • Administrator only: Only users with administrator permissions can use this feature.

Understanding skipped subscribers

When MailPoet processes a bulk resend, some of the selected subscribers may be skipped. The success message tells you how many were queued and how many were skipped. Subscribers can be skipped for any of the following reasons:

Skip reasonWhat it means
Already received the maximum number of confirmation emailsThe subscriber has already received 3 confirmation emails
Received one recentlyA confirmation email was sent within the last 7 days
Added too long agoThe subscriber was added more than 90 days ago
Batch limit reachedMore than 20 eligible subscribers were selected; repeat the action for the next batch
Not in the Unconfirmed statusThe subscriber’s status changed between selection and processing

Tip: If you have a large number of unconfirmed subscribers, work through them in batches. Select a group, resend, then repeat. This helps maintain your sending reputation and avoids overwhelming your subscribers.
